Billing
This section has some general information about how Glide works.
You can view all of your bills at any time through your online portal. You are billed monthly in advance on a payment plan and the billing amount is calculated from the start date of each specific service.
| Service | Billing Start Date |
|---|---|
| Gas | The day your gas supply transfers to us |
| Electricity | The day your electricity supply transfers to us |
| Water | The day that you request |
| Telephone Line | The day the engineer installs your line; or the day your line is restarted; or the day your line transfers to us |
| Broadband | The day it's activated |
| TV Licence | The day that you request |
When you sign up to Glide, we'll take £1 from your payment card, which goes towards your first bill. When you register your payment card with us, you authorise us to take your regular monthly payments from your payment card.
If you sign your home up to Glide with a start date in the future, we will bill you for your first bill 3 days before the start date.
Payment details
You can register or change your payment card through your online portal. For more details, please see our Payment Policy.
Deposit
There is a deposit of 1 month's bills for tenants, which is required at the start of your contract and is returned to you at the end.
At the end of your Glide agreement:
- If your account is in credit, you'll get the amount that it is in credit (divided equally among all the tenants) plus your deposits back.
- If your account is in debit, we'll first use your deposit to cover any debit amount. If your account is still in debit, we'll issue a final bill (divided equally among all the tenants)
Many of our customers end up in credit but it completely depends on how sensible you are with your energy and water usage while living at the property.
We take deposits instead of credit checking tenants as many of our tenants do not have sufficient credit histories. Business customers do not need to pay a deposit provided that their credit rating is sufficient.
Third parties
When you sign up to Glide as a tenant, there is the option of selecting a third party to guarantee and pay for your Glide account. Typically third parties are parents or guardians of the tenants. This provides an easy way for somebody else to manage and pay for your account. It's definitely worth checking whether your parents or guardians are happy to pay for your bills.
Change of tenants
When a tenant leaves the property, there are three options that are available.
- The leaving tenant is in contract and continues to pay until their tenancy agreement ends.
- The remaining tenants increase their monthly fees to cover the leaving tenant
- A replacement tenant is found who registers to replace the leaving tenant.
You will need to talk to and agree with the other tenants which option everybody is happy with.
Moving home
If you're moving home, you can always take your Glide services with you. We will always let you move your Glide agreement to another property if you sign up to Glide at your new property. Please note that there may be activation/connection charges for our telephone and broadband services at your new property.
